Speak my Language

Something vague about me being an arcade with a lot of strange games I have never seen before - a common dream symbol of mine. Later, me and my brother are leaving a house. There is a man standing next to a car on the driveway. He is American, and supposedly doesn't speak a thing of Portuguese. I remember he looked a little like Antonio Fagundes, a brasilian actor (http://rd1audienciadatv.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/antonio-fagundes.jpg). Apparently, my brother's going to do some business with him - it seems he was going to either sell or buy a car. I try talking with the man, but for some reason he doesn't seem to understand my English.

It annoys me - I was being perfectly clear, yet it seemed as if he was doing it on purpose. I finally try speaking with him in Portuguese, which just results in confused looks. We all enter a car and head somewhere else. On the way, I continue to try talking with the guy, until at some point he plainly stops understanding English and only speaks in Portuguese. I'm confused. We're arriving at this parking lot for some shop or mall. My brother is driving really fast and the place is empty, so he drifts the car, the tires screaming as we turn and stop suddenly, perfectly inside a parking spot, 1 cm or so away from the wall. The car's proportions seem to change here, and the front seats (my brother quickly left the car and left us there) seem to be smaller. The man comments about how it was wise of him not to bring his daughter, as she might have gotten hurt in those seats.

Lightning Dreamwork

Feelings:
Nothing special.
Reality Check:
Maybe lack of understanding in some situation, or perhaps the inability to express oneself?

Do you speak Portuguese?  I read where Robert Moss started dreaming ancient Huron speech, and discovered some interesting things.  This might be a key or doorway to some new understanding, if it were my dream.  Being in a car, speaking different languages, might be some changes in translation in my life.

Ooh I thought I replied to this one...

I've been considering how to integrate the ability to post dreams in different languages recently, so the topic strikes a chord for me, but not in the sense of being able to offer a personal reflection on your dream.

You speak Portuguese and English as a second language right Rodrigo? Do you find that you're usually understood by native English-speakers or is it occasionally an issue?

Your english seems perfect to me. Where did you learn it and why?

I'm from Brazil, so my mother language is Portuguese :D

I'm not too sure about the use of languages as changes in life, as I've spoken English for years. It's pretty common here in Brazil for other languages to be considered assets for life, as in for finding a job, for example, and it pretty much makes sense on some areas of expertise. There's also the issue of books, movies, videogames and others - sure, some of those get translated, but it's not the same. Also, of course, Iove languages, so I always liked learning.

i started an English course back when I was 9, and it ended when I was 15 or so. Still, most of it is really self-taught, as daily I end up reading or listening to a lot of stuff in English (mostly due to the internet, really). I haven't really traveled, but I don't think I have any problems communicating in it. Perhaps sometimes I may have a little accent, but not that it would cause me any trouble.

Hi Rodrego,

Well what stands out for me, is the changes in the interior of the car and the language interpretations; could this represent what you notice between the differences?

What do you supose the car changes represents to you?

How do you interpret seating and the safety that the owner tells that its wise not to bring his daughter?

Wonder if this is a warning about child safety seats?
