I'm sitting at the computer, watching the first episode of a new(?) anime series, or at least one I hadn't seen before. It was starred by three characters - Ichigo, from the Bleach anime series, who used suits and mostly serious clothing, and didn't seen to have any powers; his rival and a cute black haired girl both of them were in love with. I hadn't seen much of the series, but I pretty much knew the rival was a vengeful, evil kid who the girl didn't know was evil. Pretty much, the series was about Ichigo vs the kid, who I'll refer to as Rival. As I'm watching, I figure something's off. Most scenes I see are of the three hanging out together, with Ichigo standing awkwardly around. The girl and the Rival seemed oblivious to the whole awkwardness, and the Rival himself didn't look or act the way he was supposed to, or at least the way I thought he was supposed to.

It turns out he was a short, skinny brown-haired boy who was always smiling with cute ^_^ anime eyes. He was 16-17 like the others, but instead he looked 12-14, since he was so small. He also was really nice and even seemed naive. Ichigo seemed to think of him as evil too, and seemed suprised to see he was being so nice. Nothing seemed to happen in the episode, and I was more and more confused at the Rival being so nice. Suddenly, I notice something's off. The Rival suddenly has a clown makeup outline around his mouth. I wondered how I didn't see that before. He didn't seem to notice or care about it, acting normally.
