R. is going to present some kind of performance, and I've been invited to watch. I'm not sure what the place was, but it looked an awful lot like a playground from my old school. As I arrived, R. had this strange costume, apparently it was a bird/chicken costume, and he was followed around by other actors who were colorful costumes. It seems that the whole thing was related to his recent coming out. I'm not sure where the performance and the gayness made sense, but all in all, it seemed to. He was busy, so we couldn't talk for long. Moments later, I was distracted and the focus of the dream seemed to shift.
A woman was talking to me. She was a witch, and she taught me the ways of magic. I was a little frustrated, because most of the lessons I had were purely theoretical. I wasn't doing any magic, and it bothered me. She handed me an object and instructed me how to "play" it, then left. It was a rectangular box, from which protruded a rock-like object made of some kind of resin. From afar, it looked like a miniature mountain coming out of a short box. Looking up close, I could see it had indentations and bone-like structures, which gave it an eerie look of some kind of deformed being. I was taught that if I touched the indentations in certain ways and focused, I could will it to play any song I wanted. The complexity of the song varied on my focus and skills, as well as how much control I had on it.
I sat with it, but couldn't get comfortable. Meanwhile, the rock kept on playing a song. I tried focusing and manipulating it, but I couldn't do it! My fingers wouldn't get into the indentations. I tried for a long time, but was frustrated as nothing worked! Finally, I changed the position I was sitting, so I spread my legs around with it in the middle. I finally found out that I had to keep contact with something on my body with a hand, while I touched it with the other to actually hit the indentations. While my left hand's fingers fit into the small holes on the rock, my right hand had the fingers on the same way on the button-up crotch of my pants. I thought it was weird, but well, it was working! The "automatic" music from before stopped. I focused, and another song started playing.
I willed it to play "Invaders Must Die" by Prodigy, but I couldn't produce sounds more complex than an acoustic guitar. The rock started to play "Here Comes the Sun", by the Beatles. I figured it was playing a song I knew well and liked, though I kept trying to change it. Eventually, I did change it, but didn't get to make it play the "right" song.
Some time after this, the dream changed completely. I was still myself, and I knew about magic and the whole thing, but I was now watching three sisters. These sisters were triplets (though they weren't identical - rather, they looked a lot different from one another), and apparently they were orphans. There was this rich, powerful wizard who had taken them in, but he was obviously evil! The girls had a spell book that was really important and powerful, apparently some kind of family heirloom. The wizard's plan was to adopt them, so he could steal the book.
The girls couldn't do much to stop him, so his plan worked, and now he had the book and could use all the spells in it. Still, he was still pretending to be a good person, which made me (and the girls too, apparently) wonder what was up with that. He already had the book, what else could he get? He was assuring the girls he would teach them magic, as well as grant them "Wealth, Health and Housing". Strangely - and I knew this instinctively - he meant Wealth and Health not as in money and care, but rather spells - or pages from the book - that granted those instantly. I remember vaguely the girls scowling at him, not believing a word.
