My brother and I are in a museum. We are being shown some preserved beetles. These are colorful, mostly dark blue or purple beetles, some of them clearly painted, all no bigger than my thumb. A guide tells us about them, but I don't remember much. I notice some of them have bottle caps glued to their body, painted along with them. We are then sent off in an errand - as some kind homework, we are supposed to find and bring over 5 beetles. We head off to a place we are supposedly going to find them. I notice on the way that we had no kind of net or anything to capture beetles. I tell it to my brother, who was walking on ahead, but he doesn't answer.
We are outside, in an elevated area which looks and feel empty and abandoned. This is an old building that is on top of a high hill. There are no walls or anything to avoid people from rolling down the hill, after the cement floor ends. The afternoon sun is shining. We walk/slide down a slope covered with red earth and enter a building. It turns out this is an old abandoned warehouse. I look all over for insects of any kind, but can't seem to find any. There's an old computer here. I find 6-7 bright colorful small butterflies - red, yellow, green, blue, among other colors - fluttering in front of the screen. I figure we could take them in case we found no beetles, but then I realize they were actually something IN the computer - a program, and not real butterflies.
