I'm watching a video about a trip to Mars.
It's pretty fascinating. There's a narrator talking about "landing on Mars" - much like one might narrate a documentary. I watch as a vessel lands on the surface of Mars, with a plomp. A gentle ripple/wave of space dust seem to shoot out in all directions, amidst the red/orange colours that dominate the scene.
The woman who is narrating is speaking about the challenges of landing on Mars. Apparently, what makes it difficult is that there are lots of floating rocks and debris to watch out for.
The view changes. I'm looking at an animated model of the solar system, with Earth and Mars highlighted. The woman is saying how you can't get from Earth to Mars in such a such form (I think she names different animals?) but that to get there your best bet is to move in the form of a fish.
I watch, as these fish smoothly swim out through the blackness of deep space, their curving movements guiding them forward in the direction of their destination.
The image immediately makes me think of Sea Life - it wakes me up to the connection between the deep sea and deep space - the idea that fish (or what they represent) are excellent travelers in this environments makes so much sense.
At the end the narrator brings the documentary to a close,
"And so the New Vision"..
Comments: This was a pretty colourful, engaging dream. It made me want to land on Mars! Next Sea Life project anyone?
Visions is the name of a project the university I graduated from runs - it's a regular vodcast (video podcast) which reports on the university's research programs. In the dream the two concepts felt quite connected.
