An Invisible Education

I become lucid. I'm flying around, above a group of thatched, browny buildings, surrounded by trees and the occasional pathway running between buildings. The trees are different from the type we have here in Australia - reminding me of the type one might see in the US. The nature of the buildings reminds me of the design of a scout camp, large enough to support bigger groups of people, but not open to just anyone.

I am however a little more focused on the actual act of flying. My biggest problem being that I can't actually seem to rise much higher than the heights of the rooftops themselves. It's a little frustrating - I feel like I'm lacking in energy or perhaps technique. I soar around the rooftops for a little while longer, before coming to the ground.

There's an attractive woman there, who acts as the initial enticement, but I soon decide that I shouldn't waste time chasing women in my dreams, but instead do something a little more useful. I follow her (she seems friendly), and find myself in a big festival tent. There are people here practicising/rehearsing for a show. The show has of course not started, and inside the tent is pretty empty. I notice another girl at the front of the tent whose job is to simply wait at the curtain, and to welcome people.

She seems unsure about the importance of the role, or perhaps her ability to do it properly. As I watch others practising inside, I notice a weakness in her face for a moment - as though flickering back to some age when she was much shyer. As I go, I leave some passing words of encouragement.

"No no, you should stay. This thing needs someone pretty at the door. It will get people interested in the show..".

I walk off now, and start wandering along the grass nearby, and up the hillside. I'm thinking how interesting the previous scene was. It seems to me I stumbled on a place within the dreamworld, where people prepared themselves for tests, rehearse different ways of doing things in their lives. An actual place in the astral environment.

At this point, a little girl of about 8-9 years comes up to me. She wants my help. Huh.. Ok. Cool, I think to myself. What a good use of my dream time. Usually when lucid dreaming, I do things primarily for myself. I guess I can volunteer my assistance here to someone else. Unfortunately, as I walk along, I discover that the girl's problem is pretty trivial. It's like a typical school yard issue, she's upset with another friend or something to that effect, and of course both parties are in fact playing their parts in the dispute.

I decide that I still wanna do something for someone else, but I'd rather spend my time on something more important, and valuable to the wider world.

I keep walking, and then all of a sudden I'm joined by a girl who closely resembles C (an outspoken, intelligent, and independent child of about 7 years old. A student in one of the occasional grades I teach, she has an unusual stutter that seems to accentuate her well chosen words). She grabs my hand, as though asking for assistance of my own...

I don't hear her words exactly, but instead am brought forth into a subtle in-between dreaming and waking state, where I'm reading a message addressed to Robert Moss:

"PLEASE HEAR AND DEFEND THEIR PROGRESS IN OUR SCHOOLS".

Comments: I really enjoyed this dream. It made me think abouw how there may be invisible schools that are accessible within the "dreaming" - that just like the girls who were rehearsing their performance in the stage tent, that there may be other kinds of learning taking place there. What if children today were venturing out to these schools within their dreams, and receiving an "invisible education" of their own?. I felt that I was being invited to return to these "schools" within the dreaming, and see what exactly was taking place.

I was reminded of my own work in schools, and the children that I see in the different classrooms each day. When I was a kid, I did have some unusual dreams - maybe I didn't know exactly what was going on, but I do feel I was learning things in those environments. Is it the same for children today? If we do venture into an astral realm when we sleep (as I myself believe), then surely something happens each night on our travels.

During the rest of the night, I focused in on the words of the invitation. Images of particular children that I'd taught seemed to bop up in my inner vision, and I was reminded of the unique imagination/behaviours of these children . I wondered if I were not being reminded of the children who were regulars at these invisible schools.

Robert Moss is a well-known dreamworker and author. Therefore the invitation at the end speaks to the dreamer within me, capable of defending the importance of dreams. I'm going to keep the invitation in my mind for the next few nights, and see what dreams follow.

Thanks DL. Just posted a dream detailing my first steps in that direction.
