German Shepherd

I'm on the hill behind my family/childhood home. There's a german shepherd before me. It's standing on it's hindlegs. It's feet on my heart. Stood atop the slope of the hill, the dog feels strong - as though it's pushing me, holding me up. Possibly a little strong, but all the same I feel empowered by it's presence.

Comments: This dream made me feel as though I was coming into contact with an animal guide. I can still recall how the press of it's feet felt against my chest.

Thinking about that, I remember a friend who used to live nearby. He had a german shepherd, which I remember as being a popular kind of guard dog. This dream made me feel protected.

An interesting dream.  I like how the dog seems to be such an animal of power in your dream.  One thing to consider is that the German Shepard is a herding dog as well as a dog trained by police, so it has quite a history of keeping people safe.  Perhaps you have found a guide of sorts, reminding you that he's there to keep you from straying into dangerous areas.  Since he's standing with his forepaws over your heart, perhaps his job is one of a more emotional or spiritual level rather than physical.  Perhaps you've just had something happen or are going through something that caused him to show up in your dreams?

Hey Wolvendeer.

I think you're right on with your comments. I liked those trivia bits too - about the German Shepherd being a herding dog, as well as a dog trained by police. One of the things I really enjoy about dream sharing, is the capacity to come into contact with new knowledge - that connects me to the world in which I live.

I also agree with your comments - there was something emotional/spiritual I associated with the dogs appearance in my dream. I think it has to do with what I'm doing this week and the next two - spending time teaching in one classroom (instead of jumping between schools/classes from day-to-day like I usually do). There are alot of new responsibilities associated with that, and a feeling of preparation, as I am aiming to do full-time teaching next year.

The presence of the German Shepherd in my dreams seems wholly positive.
