Like a Dream Within a Dream

I've been lucid for some time. I'm with an attractive woman, who seems a little wiser / more clued into our larger 'context' than myself. At one point I recall making some kind of advance on her, which she's not particularly taken by. She cautions me, adding that I'm not balanced, "you need pranic healing". I see an image in my inner vision, a symbol which appears to represent this imbalance, like a magnetic charge focused at the third eye.

The dream transforms and I'm at my family home, out on the green hill behind the house. I get the sense her role in this dream is as a guide of some sort, and ask her curiously as to the nature of the dream. I'm surprised because I distinctly recall that in the waking world it was 5:15 when I went to sleep and I set the alarm for exactly 5:25 am. I'm stunned by the fact that I've experienced so much, and yet am still here dreaming"

I explain to her my situation, but she explains she can't help me. She seems to think that this dream is 'real'. I look back at her, as though she's now either a confused character darting about my dreamscape, or just knows alot more than I do about what's really going on.

"Ohhh... so you think this dream is the waking world? ... Where I come from, I just woke up from a dream, and now I'm here dreaming again. So I don't get it, what are these dreams between dreams?

I press her for more explanation but she doesn't seem to have the answers.

"I can't help, but you should ask him", she says, taking a moment and then pointing me to an older, black man stationed further down the hill.

He's something like a caretaker, a pretty quiet, self-contained man waiting at the fence. As I approach him, his solid, stationary figure nods in the direction of the fence that cuts along between my house and that of our neighbour's.

There's a run of curled up wire there, lain flat on the ground in a slightly irregular but mostly circular form, between the 'gap' in the fencing that separates the two areas of land. I have the impression that this fence represents the 'space between dreams' or the material that separates one dream from another.

I find the idea fascinating, and ask him for more information, but he says nothing more. As I wander away, still fascinated, I notice further in the periphery of the dream, another fence cutting between my neighbour's house, and the next property in that direction. There's a feeling of slight surreality.

Wandering on, still excited, fascinated by the passing of the time, and shocked that my alarm hasn't woken me from my sleep yet, I call out with my voice, singing/commanding the dream to take me to a new stage. The bright lights of city buildings begin to form around me, staking out the dream scene.

The energy of the dream command an inner excitement, and I feel a wish to come closer to the source that guides it. I open my arms up - out to the world, and letting out a shout - I rise into the sky.

Lightning Dreamwork

Feelings:

I woke up and it was only 5:19. I was pretty astonished (everything had passed within 4 minutes).

I loved how I was able to ask the dream to self reference / describe itself.

Reality Check:

The curled up piece of wire that was to be used for fencing
- talking to my friend he suggested that this might be something like the 'boundary'. On the one hand it could be limitation, on the otherit could be a boundary the mind constructs in order to work within / make sense of a single dream.

Knowing More:

Definitely curious. I liked this list of possible uses of the word fence:
